Vodafone outdoors National Coding program

About thousand Ghanaian youth are to be trained in coding under the Vodafone national coding program.

The program is to enable them write instructions that will be executed by computers.

The initiative is to begin a new phase of grooming high-tech youth to compete with the technological world.

The Chief Executive Officer of the telecommunications company, Yolanda Zoleka Cuba said “Coding is a must-have skill for all teenagers and the youth in the current world as they strive to have dominion over the future generation. It is an empowerment tool that makes it possible to create things that others can use in their daily lives”

‘It has proven to change the way businesses operate – online platforms and Uber – readily come to mind. It has disrupted several large conglomerates by small companies seeking a unique way to satisfy customers”.

Deputy Communications Minister, Vincent Sowah Odotei speaking on the sidelines of the launch said the initiative will help build creators of technology in Ghana.

“We need to equip our youth with the language of the future and the future is coding so that we can transformers ourselves from mere users of technology but creators of technology”.

The first session of the Vodafone Ghana national coding programme which is expected to take place in all ten regions across the nation was successfully held at the Accra Digital Centre on Friday, August 24, 2018.
