Dead woman found in 'Ghana Must Go' bag in the Afigya-Kwabre District

Residents of Atrama and Ampabame in the Afigya-Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region have been left in fear after a woman was found dead in a bush in a suspected ritual murder.

The body of the deceased believed to be in her twenties had been wrapped in a nylon sack popularly known as "Ghana Must Go" and dumped on the side of a bush-road near the two communities.

According to residents, an unidentified person on motorbike deposited the body there last Sunday.

Passers-by were attracted to the content by the stench of the apparently decomposed corpse which some had assumed was refuse because people dump waste there.

A resident, Kwame Mensah told Nhyira FM they see it as a ploy to lay blame on members of the community in an apparent attempt by the perpetrators to cover up.

Police was struggling to convey the body to the mortuary at the time Nhyira FM visited the scene on Thursday.

They will however not speak to the issue though they assured residents of intensified patrols in the area.

In spite of the assurance of improved security with increasing police presence, there is, however, fear among residents who say they will avoid the route on suspicion the perpetrators could still be lurking around.
