Kwesi Botchway c’ttee presents NDC election defeat report.

The 13-member committee set up by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to probe its defeat in the 2016 election, has presented its findings to the National Executive Council (NEC) today.

As part of its recommendations, the committee has asked the party to take a holistic look at the party’s biometric electoral register.
Speaking at the presentation of the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, expressed hope that the recommendations will help capture power for the NDC in the next elections in 2020.

Chairman of the 13-member committee tasked to investigate what led to the defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the 2016 polls, Prof Kwesi Botchwey, has refuted earlier reports that the committee recommended that former President John Dramani Mahama be replaced as flag bearer for the 2020 elections since he lost the 2016 polls as a result of his association with corruption while his arch-rival, Nana Akufo-Addo, of the New Patriotic Party was seen as incorruptible by the electorate.

Kwasi botchwey also said the biometric register of the NDC must be looked at to change certain things that did not help the party and that part must reconnect back to its democratic rules.
Meanwhile the general secretary of the party Johnson Asiedu Nketia after receiving the report thanked the committee and promise them all recommendation will be implemented.

The 455-page report, titled, ‘listening to the grassroot’, said the NDC must take urgent steps to restore the integrity of the register.
The committee became necessary after leading members of the party started pointing fingers at each other after the defeat.
