NDC Needs Unity To Win 2020

A former Deputy Western Regional Minister, Alfred Ekow Gyan, has told members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that unity is the most important factor that will ensure victory for the party in Election 2020.

Addressing NDC supporters at the Takoradi constituency congress of the party on Saturday, Mr Gyan, popularly called “Abott” also charged the party members to uphold the party’s interest since it was paramount in consolidating intra-party democracy.

Last Saturday’s congress was used to elect new working executives for the party in the constituency.

The 2016 NDC candidate for Takoradi therefore admonished the incoming constituency officers of the party to work hard to be able to win the seat for the NDC in the next general elections.

Charles Rhables, a businesses man and an active member of the NDC in Takoradi, was elected as the new chairman for the NDC in the constituency.

He polled 462 votes to beat his only challenger, Bright Opare, who got 282 votes.

The post of secretary went to Newman Jones Kpogo while Michael Arthur was declared unopposed for the position of deputy communication officer.

The position of youth organizer went to Ken Hans while Issa Abubakar was elected co-ordinator for Zongo caucus.

In his acceptance speech, Charles Rhables thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and assured members of the party that the new executives would work hard to reclaim all the parliamentary seats the NDC lost to the NPP come 2020.

He also urged the rank and file of the party to close their ranks, put their petty squabbles aside and work for the common good of the party.
