Baba Yara Stadium will be ready to host Kotoko – Joshua Mensah

Regional Sports Development Officer (RSDO), Joshua Mensah, has assured Kumasi Asante Kotoko and their fans that the Baba  Yara Sports Stadium will be ready to host all  their home games in their Africa campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated their arch rivals, Hearts of Oak in the 2017 MTN FA Cup final recently.

Following the win, Asante Kotoko has qualified to represent Ghana in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Mensah: “I’m glad to inform you that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium  is ready to host Kotoko in their African campaign and I want to assure you that the venue is ready for the competition come 11th February”.

“As you can see we are in a very dry season but we are ready to do whatever it takes to keep the field in good shape”.

“We will make sure that the pitch is as green as possible before the competition starts”, he added.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will face Congolese Club, Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA) in the preliminary stages of 2018 CAF competition.

The first leg will be played on the weekend of 9th to 11th February, 2018 whilst the second leg comes off on the 20th-21st February, 2018.

Kotoko will be making a return to Africa after their first-round elimination by MC El Eulma of Algeria in the qualifying round of the 2015 CAF Champions League.

This will be their third time in the CAF Confederations Cup after being finalist in 2004 and a group stage finish in 2008.
