GNAT president distances group from members’ strike in six regions

The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has described the strike action by its members in six regions as illegal.

According to the President of the Association, Philippa Larsen, majority of the concerns raised by the six branches that declared the strike have been resolved, hence the basis for their strike is weak.

The six regional associations accused the Ghana Education Service of among other things failing to resolve many challenges raised by its members, hence the strike beginning today, September 10, 2019. However, speaking in an interview with Joy News, the GNAT president said it has distanced itself from the strike and urged its members to return to the classrooms.
