Some parts of Ghana have been hit by an earth tremor Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
This occurred a few minutes to 11:00 pm. The tremor was recorded in parts of the Greater Accra, Central and Eastern Regions.
Affected areas include Dansoman, Lapaz, Achimota, Tesano, Santa Maria, Gbawe, Weija, Madina, Kwabenya, Nsawam, Koforidua, Swedru among others. Mawuli Zogbenu, a resident of Weija said he experienced the earth tremor three times.
The Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) has forecasted a major earthquake along the fault line of Accra.
Ghana’s traditional fault line is reported to be on the McCarthy Hill through to the Accra Central route.
In 1939, Ghana recorded a major earthquake that caused cracks on buildings in some parts of Accra.
